My Word List

About the feature

My Word List is designed to improve reading fluency. The words developing readers click on in the I Can Read It mode are added to My Word List. Students that have logged on individually can go to this list any time to sound out and hear the words they've clicked. When they've mastered a word, they can move it to their learned words list.

How it works?

When your child logs in - or your student logs in individually - and plays a book in I Can Read It mode, he or she can click words to hear them read aloud.

These words are stored in My Word List, which students can access by clicking the My Words badge when it pops up during readings.

For readers who have not individually logged on, the My Words badge appears at the end of the book they have been reading. At that time, the readers can review words they have not been able to sight read.

Here students can review the words that they've had a difficult time with in the past. When they feel that have mastered a word, they can drag it to the Learned Words list. Words on My Word List can be clicked on to be spoken by a narrator.

Viewing a student's My Word List

Teachers logged in to the Teachers' Place can view and modify a student's My Word List by going to My Class List and clicking VIEW & EDIT that student.

Clicking a word here will reveal a menu which you can use to move a word between lists, or to remove the word entirely.

* Home users can access the same panel in the Parents' Place, choosing Reader Activity on the menu.
